Welcome to the Paris Intervarsity Tournament's home in cyberspace! The Paris IV is a young debating tournament organized by the group informally known as the “Paris Debating Union”, an alliance of the Parisian region’s most active debating “clubs”. The founding members of the Paris IV are students from four of France’s most prestigious schools and universities: the Ecole Centrale de Paris, Université Paris Descartes , Université Panthéon Assas and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (TELECOM ParisTech).

The Paris IV was born from the ashes of smaller tournaments previously organized in these schools, with the ambition both of establishing a reference for friendly yet quality debating in Europe and of fostering in France a true debating tradition. It is a closed motion tournament, where all debates are conducted in the British Parliamentary Style (BPS) also known as World Style.

The debates will be held in the premises of TELECOM ParisTech, in the heart of the Ville Lumière Paris. Hosting a debating event in a city like Paris without a minimum of tourism on the agenda would be outright blasphemy. Therefore, we will organize optional activities for all interested participants on the day following the debates… be careful when you buy your return ticket! See the schedule page for more details.

We had enormous fun organizing the previous edition of the tournament and are looking forward to welcoming you for the Paris Intervarsity tournament 2010!
