Speaker tab, Team tab and photos finally available !

The Paris Open is an annual debate tournament brought to you by the Paris Debating Union, a group of Parisian university debate associations. The organising team behind the Paris Open are students from some of France's most prestigious universities: Paris Descartes, Sciences Po Paris , University Paris Assas , Ecole Centrale de Paris and Telecom Paristech .

More about this year's tournament:

  • Chief Adjudicator : Anat Shapira
  • Dates: 6-7 April 2012
  • Location: Telecom Paristech ( Metro Corvisart  )
  • Team cap: 48 teams (N-1 rule applies)
  • Registration fee: 70 € / Team
  • Open Tournament : Bring as many teams as you want (N-1 rule applies)

The Paris Open started as a means to include all French unis in what was previously a much smaller friendly tournament. The ambition is to establish a reference for friendly yet competitive debating in France and creating a true debating tradition in France and through continental Europe. It is a closed motion tournament, where all debates are conducted in the British Parliamentary Style (BPS) also known as World Style.

Although officially an intervarsity, composite teams are accepted and can qualify for the break rounds.

Still not sure what to expect? Here's what people thought about our Open last year:

Scott Ralston: "The best IV of the year!"
Can Okar: "The best Paris IV and I’ve been to most of them."
Ben Woolgar: "The funnest and classiest IV I have ever been to!"

Cheers,
The Paris Open organisation team
